I heard about Brewery Sterkens thanks to friends of mine. Searched for some information on their website (www.sterkensbrew.be). Very interesting stuff! It seems that they started brewing in 1651 and that they gradually became bigger. They were even the first Belgians to export beer.
This St. Paul Double is a strong, dark abbey beer with medium carbonation and secondary fermentation in the bottle. The aroma of the double is very rich and you can smell some roasted malt. This beer has a soft, subtle aftertaste after a combination of sweet and bitter in the mouth. You surely can taste the caramel and some overripe fruits.
