Tripel beers are perhaps the most popular type of beer among the general public. Almost every specialty beer has a triple variant, characterized by an accessible, rich taste. By adding herbs or applying special brewing techniques, this type of beer often gets a unique character.
Tripel beers usually have a golden hue, ranging from light to dark blond and almost amber in color. They are top-fermented and undergo refermentation in the bottle, which contributes to their character. Many brewers use wheat malt, which ensures a full foam head that lasts a long time on the beer. The flavor profiles can range from fruity to dry with recognizable woody notes. The alcohol percentage usually fluctuates between 7% and 11%, but rarely rises higher.
